Andreas Terheggen
My Paintings

The Artist

The German artist Andreas Paul Wilhelm Terheggen was born on the Lower Rhine.  After finishing high school he graduated from the Düsseldorf School of Art. This education was followed by an assistantship with a well-known American advertising photographer in Düsseldorf. At the TV-Station WDR in Cologne he completed his training as a film cameraman and worked for the broadcaster for several years as an assistant, cameraman and editor of his own films.

The genre of the artist are mostly large-format (90x120 cm) acrylic and oil paintings in the style of photorealism.
The images are based on photographs that he took as part of his work on numerous trips around the world. One of the focal points are nowadays scenes from situations and moments in Portugal, where he has been living for several years.
Painting has become a passion for me, which I dedicate myself to with great joy, especially in the rainy winter months.

Of course, I´m fully aware that my pictures do not claim to be avant-garde. For me it is completely sufficient that my works give the viewer the feeling of being able to look at them again and again and still feel joy.
